“ONE TIME” SINGLE RELEASE PARTY

My “ONE TIME” single release party was the first event I produced in London, a great example of disruptive marketing and experimental event concepts. Fresh on the London scene, I wanted to bring some of the NYC grit and do something a bit out of the box. Inspired by DIY cultural arts spaces and street graphics from the 80s-90s art world, I wanted to interrogate the relationship between environment and audience behavior. Staging the event at an iconic boxing ring in Camden allowed guests to “break the 4th wall” and enter the ring, while also using the bleachers as a way to be an onlooker while still engaging in the event. As it was a dry hire, I had to source, rent, and transport all the sound, lighting, and drinks — a DIY approach that was tedious but rewarding. The lineup featured a range of Black/POC British artists, each bringing something unique to the ring. I also secured editorial coverage for the event, tying it back to the release with a diaristic write-up from the night.
